Somnia Anesthesia joined the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) this week in celebrating Healthcare Quality Week (HQW). The national campaign focuses on spreading the word about providers’ accomplishments in improving the delivery of care and quality of patient outcomes.
According to NAHQ, Healthcare Quality Week “highlights the work of healthcare quality and patient safety professionals and their influence on improved patient care outcomes and healthcare delivery systems.” HQW activities help create awareness among clinicians, patients, government officials, and the general public on the importance of improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery and creating the best outcomes for patients.
Somnia Anesthesia’s nationwide network of anesthesia care teams, working with hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers and office-based surgical facilities, has been recognized for its high-quality and efficient delivery by national accreditation organizations, including The Joint Commission and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC). Furthermore, Somnia practices have achieved 100% on all Joint Commission surveys, greater than 98% compliance with SCIP Measures. The McKesson OR Benchmarks Collaborative ranks Somnia among the Top 10% in operating room efficiency metrics, and Somnia teams continually score above 90% satisfaction among both patients and surgeons.
In the February 2014 issue of Somnia’s thought leadership series, Anesthesia Perspectives, Somnia stated, “With health reform’s focus on performance and improved outcomes, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and office-based surgery facilities (OBSFs) are facing the same scrutiny hospitals traditionally have from regulatory agencies. The bottom line, regardless of the surgical setting, is that continuous quality improvement maximizes the value of the services you offer your patients.”
Somnia CEO Marc Koch understands the important role anesthesia plays in overall OR performance. “Somnia has long recognized the value of maximizing anesthesia quality in any setting. Our Clinical Quality Excellence Program (CQE) is designed to help facilities improve their processes, outcomes, and stakeholder satisfaction. As healthcare facilities and providers consider the key strategic alignments and transparent partnerships required to successfully meet the ACO participation requirements, it is imperative that anesthesia be included and valued as an integral partner in achieving the quality and cost collaborations required to sustain ACO success.
Somnia joins the NAHQ in recognizing the critical importance of quality in patient outcomes and congratulate our clinicians and administrators on setting the standard for the delivery of high-quality efficient care.”
