After more than 20 years as an Anesthesia Chief in a VA hospital, it was time for me to make a career change. I wanted to move into the ambulatory and office-based environments that didn’t require working every Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving. Somnia offered me the scheduling flexibility that allowed me to do that. Now, no call, no weekends, better compensation, and, most importantly, lots more family time.
My current role as Chief Nurse Anesthetist/Practice Administrator is a culmination of a lifetime commitment to service that began in the military. I joined Somnia in 2007 because I knew they would provide me with the stability, support, and innovative environment I sought. Somnia had incorporated the anesthesia care team (ACT) model into daily practice long before VBC and I appreciate the recognition they afforded CRNAs as essential team members. I feel valued as an integral facet of the company and the hospital in which I’m providing anesthesia services.
