Who We Are
We’re more than a practice management company singularly focused on anesthesiology for 25 years. We’re innovators in our field–we pioneered the use of blended care teams. And we’re champions of evidence-based medicine and population health–we’re helping clients make the shift to a value-based reimbursement environment.
We are led by anesthesiologists and CRNAs who, combined, bring more than a century of experience in anesthesiology.
We’re collaborative and hands-on, enabling every client to leverage our powerful mix of clinical and business expertise.

What makes us different?
Unlike other management companies, we’re focused only on anesthesia. What that means for our healthcare partners is a dedication to building anesthesia teams that consistently deliver optimized clinical, operational, and fiscal performance that can improve outcomes. Rightsized costs as well as better patient experiences follow naturally.
When they ask us, we help hospital and surgery center clients develop and implement the systematic approach to care that achieves the IHI’s Triple Aim.
Still privately held after all these years, our dedication is to our staff, our clients, and our patients, and not to investors and shareholders.
Leading the way
As members of the Perioperative Surgical Home Cohort, we’ve been among the first advocates of evidence-based medicine. We share that knowledge with our client partners who are interested in improving clinical outcomes and access to care and lowering systemwide costs.
Our client partners sometimes ask us to help them develop and operationalize patient-focused best practices and to redesign inefficient processes. Collaborating with executive and interdepartmental clinical teams, we use patient-focused care to transform healthcare, optimize performance and satisfy Triple Aim goals.
Dedicated to clinical quality and patient safety
After 25 years, clinical quality and patient safety remain the cornerstones upon which Somnia rests. In fact, our Clinical Quality Excellence (CQE) program has been used as a model by some of our clients when designing their own best practices and protocols. We remain proud of the fact that we were the first anesthesia-only management company named a Patient Safety Organization by the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality.
And because we remain data-driven, we define, measure, and assess clinical quality throughout each patient encounter. Using robust tools and reporting, we capture more clinical quality/patient safety indicators than required for regulatory compliance. We also use our data to monitor and benchmark the performance of the groups and individual clinicians in our 500-plus network of anesthesia physicians and CRNAs who deliver hundreds of thousands of anesthetics.
At Somnia, we aim to improve healthcare for all stakeholders.
