Somnia Anesthesia Achieves Relisting as Patient Safety Organization

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 15, 2017)  Somnia Anesthesia, a leading national anesthesia management company, has been relisted as a Patient Safety Organization (PSO) by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), a lead Federal agency and HHS program administrator. The PSO program derived from the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005 which was created and enacted by congress. While developing the requirements for certification in 2008, the AHRQ began its listing of PSOs.

Somnia Anesthesia holds the added distinction of being listed over multiple cycles as a PSO, meaning that the company has repeatedly established and adheres to the eight key patient safety activities specified in the Patient Safety Rule laid out by the AHRQ. Hugh Morgan, MHA, CPHQ, CMPE, vice president at Somnia, has successfully led the company’s rigorous application process since 2011.

“The shared commitment between Somnia and our dedicated anesthesia clinicians demonstrates our sharp focus on clinical safety and delivers quantifiable benefits, not only to the clients we serve, but also to their patients,” says Dr. Robert Goldstein, CMO, Somnia Anesthesia.
