Perioperative Partnership Webinar Recording Now Available For Download

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (October 24, 2012) – Somnia Anesthesia, a national anesthesia practice management company, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA)  recently presented a webinar entitled “How Perioperative Partnerships between Operating Room Management and Anesthesia Leadership Impact Productivity and Quality.” The webinar explained the benefits of a perioperative partnership between operating room (OR) managers and the anesthesia department in hospitals.

Speakers at the webinar included John Ansorge, Somnia’s chief financial officer; Hugh Morgan, Somnia’s vice president of quality management and executive director of its Patient Safety Organization; and Thomas Schares, MD, MBA, chief of anesthesiology at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California and Somnia’s medical director in California and New Mexico.

In his presentation, Dr. Schares discussed examples of how anesthesia impacts the entire perioperative process. He emphasized that a key role of the anesthesia provider is to facilitate the OR case load and case flow together with the OR staff. He also recommended that the anesthesia department be actively involved or even lead the charge on quality reporting because of its growing importance in pay-for-performance programs.
