Pedro Marquez Orozco, MD, MPH, Appointed Medical Director At St. Mary’s Medical Center In Long Beach, CA
HARRISON, NY – Somnia Inc. (Somnia), a national anesthesia services management company, today announced the appointment of Pedro Marquez Orozco, MD, MPH, medical director of Anesthesiology at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach, CA. St. Mary’s is a proud member of Dignity Health, the fifth largest hospital system in the country and the largest hospital provider in California.
As the new medical director, Dr. Orozco will be responsible for managing and leading the anesthesia team at the hospital. He has nearly two decades of clinical practice experience at major healthcare facilities in California. During that time, he served as Chairperson of Anesthesia Clinical Services at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton.

Dr. Orozco is a member of several anesthesia-related professional organizations. Early in his career, he conducted basic science research in both the private (Amgen, Inc.; Zymogenetics, Inc.) and academic (Center for Blood Research, Harvard Medical School) sectors. His background includes stints as a volunteer, providing medical care to underserved communities in San Diego and Mexico. Before he began studying medicine, Dr. Orozco was an AP Science Teacher in California.
A board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Orozco earned his Doctor of Medicine degree with honors at University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at King/Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, where he was the recipient of the General Surgery Intern of the Year Award. He earned his M.P.H. in Family and Community Health from the Harvard School of Public Health, and his A.B. in Biological Sciences from Harvard College, both located in Massachusetts.
