Somnia Presents Second Annual Anesthesiologist of the Year Award
Dr. Robert Karpinos of St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY is this Year’s Winner
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (May 12, 2014) – In celebration of National Doctor’s Day, Somnia Anesthesia, an anesthesia practice management company serving hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and office-based practices nationwide, began accepting nominations for its second annual Anesthesiologist of the Year Award on March 31. Nominations were accepted through April 30 and were reviewed by Somnia’s clinical leadership team to determine the winner.
Although many prominent nominations were received, Dr. Robert Karpinos, Chief of Anesthesiology at St. Barnabas Hospital (SBH) in Bronx, NY, was selected for exemplifying high quality patient care and excellent leadership. Fellow colleague, Rene Bouqet, chief CRNA at SBH, nominated Dr. Karpinos. Bouqet praised Dr. Karpinos’ ability “to turn around the negative culture and perception of the anesthesia department at SBH to a well-respected and positive culture within his first year at the hospital.” He continued to note that “he is an asset to Somnia with even greater potential to be successful in any anesthesia related endeavor.”
Dr. Karpinos was named Chief of Anesthesiology at St. Barnabas Hospital in January of 2013. He has 20 years of clinical practice experience at major healthcare facilities in New York and New Jersey. Dr. Karpinos is responsible for managing and leading the anesthesia team at the hospital where his clinical leadership proves to be invaluable.
