Somnia Anesthesia Hosts Sixth Annual Anesthesiologist of the Year Award
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (March 23, 2018) – Somnia Anesthesia, a national anesthesia practice management company, is once more marking National Doctors’ Day with its annual Anesthesiologist of the Year Award. The event, now in its sixth year, honors an outstanding anesthesiologist who is recognized by his/her peers for dedication, hard work, clinical excellence, and commitment to providing the highest quality care every day.
Doctors’ Day, first observed in the early 1930s, was chosen to coincide with the first use of general anesthesia in surgery. Signed into Public Law in 1990, Doctors’ Day was designated a national holiday to be celebrated each year on March 30.
Supporting a Critical Role in Healthcare
The success of this long-running program has prompted the launch of a companion award, Anesthesia Resident of the Year. This new national award recognizes the clinical and educational accomplishments and dedication to excellent patient care of an outstanding anesthesia resident. Nominations in each category may be made online by fellow anesthesiologists, anesthesia residents, certified registered nurse anesthetists, physicians, surgeons, or other healthcare professionals.

Deadline for nominations is Monday, April 17. The winners, who each will receive an Amazon Echo and who will be selected by a panel of senior-level healthcare clinicians and administrators, will be announced on Monday, April 24.
