Somnia Anesthesia Opens Annual CRNA and SRNA of the Year Contests

Call for Nominations Opens During 2019 CRNA Week

HARRISON, NY (JANUARY 23, 2019) – Somnia Anesthesia, a national anesthesia practice management company, joins the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) in celebrating certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) across the country in its 20th National CRNA Week, January 20-26, 2019.

The weeklong celebration highlights the AANA’s public education theme of “Every Breath, Every Beat, Every Second – WE ARE THERE!”, chosen to educate the general population about the important work that CRNAs do every day, for every patient. It also echoes the fact that each year more than 52,000 CRNAs and student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs) provide approximately 43 million anesthetics to patients across the country. National CRNA Week raises awareness among hospital administrators, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patients about the benefits of having CRNAs deliver care.

To mark National Nurse Anesthetists Week, Somnia Anesthesia will once again recognize an outstanding  CRNA with its eighth annual CRNA of the Year Award. In addition to that, the company is recognizing an outstanding SRNA via its second annual SRNA of the Year Award. Nominations from across the country are now being accepted through midnight, February 11. CRNAs and SRNAs may be nominated by a fellow CRNA or SRNA, physician, academic, or other healthcare professional who works with him/her using Somnia’s online nomination forms below. The winner will be selected by a panel comprising senior-level healthcare clinicians and administrators and announced on February 18. This year’s award recipient will receive an Amazon Echo device.

“We are proud to work with the many CRNAs who, as integral members of Somnia’s national network of skilled, dedicated anesthesia providers, are providing thousands of patients in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and office-based practices with safe, high-quality, and cost-efficient care,” said Megan O’Mara, director of national recruitment for Somnia Anesthesia.
