Somnia Announces Winners of 2019 CRNA of the Year And SRNA of the Year Awards
HARRISON, NY (February 21, 2019) – Somnia Anesthesia, an anesthesia practice management company serving hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and office-based facilities nationwide, announced the winners of the 2019 CRNA of the Year and the 2019 SRNA of the Year Awards: Jason McLott, CRNA, Blue Ridge Regional and McDowell Hospital, and Sydney McLaughlin, SRNA, studying at Florida State University State University, respectively. The awards were established in support of National Nurse Anesthetists Week.

Nurse anesthetists will remain vital clinicians in tomorrow’s healthcare landscape.”
Mr. McLott was nominated by his fellow CRNAs for his dedication to always doing what’s best for the patient and his passion for finding ways to better both his clinical practice, and the profession. A leader, he began using opioid-sparing techniques at his facility, inspiring his colleagues to follow suit. Since then, he as presented on the benefits of that form of treatment at regional ANA meetings and will address attendees of the AANA meeting in August.
Ms. McLaughlin was nominated for her drive and patient-centric care ethic and was described as a “stellar SRNA” who always seeks out the most challenging cases. Despite losing her home and belongings to Hurricane Michael in late 2018, she returned to patient care, achieving case numbers exceeding those serviced by her peers and while being in a new hospital some 250 miles from her home. Her devotion and accomplishments are attributed to her passion for the profession.
Both awards recognize the dedication of anesthesia clinicians who work to achieve best-in-class patient care and who demonstrate an honest commitment to personal and professional growth and improvement.
