Company Simultaneously Reveals Winner of First Annual Anesthesia Resident of Year Award
NEW ROCHELLE, NY–(April 27, 2018) – Somnia Anesthesia, a national perioperative anesthesia practice management company, announced the winners of its sixth annual Anesthesiologist of the Year Award and first annual Anesthesia Resident of the Year Award. They are Dr. Jasper Mesarch, University Medical Center, El Paso, and Dr. Matt Betz, anesthesia resident at Johns Hopkins University, respectively. The contests were established to honor National Doctor’s Day.
Somnia launched the companion Anesthesia Resident of the Year award to recognize the clinical and educational accomplishments, career advocacy, and dedication to excellent patient care of an outstanding resident in anesthesia.
The two awards celebrate the dedication and hard work of anesthesiologists who provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate care and clinical excellence. Anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and healthcare executives across the country submitted their choices online in March.
Dr. Mesarch was nominated by his fellow anesthesiologists for his outstanding clinical and administrative leadership skills and for the intelligence, enthusiasm, and support he brings to his colleagues and his patients every day. His coworkers also pointed to Dr. Mesarch as being a well-rounded practitioner who brings common sense to his position.
Dr. Betz was nominated for the passion, sincerity, and humility about his work he demonstrates in his clinical performance and for the 110% of himself he gives daily. He was described as bringing a respectful, positive, calm demeanor and high level of professionalism to his work at all times. One nomination noted that medical students have commented that they would want him to provide anesthesia for their loved ones.
