Somnia Anesthesia Begins Its CRNA of the Year Contest During CRNA Week

Program’s Seven-Year Success Prompts Launch of Companion SRNA of the Year Award
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (JANUARY 19, 2018) – Somnia Anesthesia, a national anesthesia practice management company, joins the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) in celebrating nurse anesthetists across the country during the 19th National CRNA Week, January 21-27, 2018.
The week-long celebration sheds light on the AANA’s public education campaign theme, “CRNAs: The Future of Anesthesia Care Today,” chosen because it echoes the fact that each year more than 52,000 CRNAs and student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNA) provide approximately 43 million anesthetics to patients across the country. Both the campaign and National CRNA Week raise awareness among hospital administrators, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and patients about the benefits of having CRNAs deliver care.
Supporting a Critical Role in Healthcare
To mark National Nurse Anesthetists Week, Somnia Anesthesia will once again recognize an outstanding Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with its seventh annual CRNA of the Year Award. The success of this long-running program has prompted the launch of a companion award, SRNA of the Year. This new national award recognizes the clinical and educational accomplishments, career advocacy, and dedication to excellent patient care of an outstanding student registered nurse anesthetist.
“As a CRNA and as a healthcare executive, I couldn’t be more proud of the many CRNAs and SRNAs who continue to work with Somnia’s clinicians as integral members of the company’s anesthesia practices around the country, providing patients in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and office-based facilities with safe, superior, and cost-efficient care,” said Linda Caccamo, CRNA, MBA/MHA, and COO at Somnia Anesthesia. “In the future, I believe nurse anesthetists will play an even greater role in the provision of safe, high quality, and accessible patient care.”
Nominations, which may be submitted online by CRNAs, physicians, clinical program directors or other healthcare professionals from across the country who work with CRNAs and SRNAs are being accepted January 22 through midnight, February 10. Winners will be selected by a panel of senior clinicians and healthcare administrators and announced February 19. Winners will receive an Echo smart home device.
