Kaweah Delta Medical Center, a 581-bed regional medical center distinguished by nursing magnet status, an award-winning Emergency Department, and a highly ranked cardiovascular program is located in the charming city of Visalia.
More than 8,200 surgeries and 460 cardiac surgeries are performed at the hospital each year. The hospital’s maternity program manages 4,300 deliveries annually, including nearly 1,500 C-section births. Kaweah Delta recently expanded its maternity, emergency, and cardiac services to better serve the community.
KDMC is now affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic’s (CC) Heart Program, the No. 1 in the nation, making it one of only two hospitals in California affiliated with the CC.
The care team of anesthesiologists and CRNAs provides anesthesia services in the operating rooms, cardiovascular program and obstetrics. The team works collaboratively under a medical supervision model. CRNAs perform their own cases.
Known as the “crown jewel” of California’s San Joaquin Valley, Visalia (pop. 127,000) offers the unique combination of affordable housing, an easy commute to work, a friendly community with a small-town feel, many urban amenities, and ample indoor and outdoor recreation. Visalia is located in Tulare County, a three-hour drive from Los Angeles. The area is known for its warm, dry summers and moderate winters, and enjoys an average of just 26 days of precipitation per year.
